grin Me too.

I said my words and expressed my respect to Mr.Lee in a PM but VA is much more succinct (and accurate) as it applies here. whistle

Back in the '80s I read a story regarding fire ants and how a an entire neighborhood eradicated them. It started with one gentleman who was familiar with the structure of a fire ant hill. The queen is usually about 20 feet underground, and as has been noted on this thread often, you can't get to the queen directly; you need to use Amdro, which is picked up and fed to the queen and the colony dies.

The gentleman in question took a large rectangular cooking pan, cut a hole in it, brazed some flexible metal tubing to it, then attached the other end to his lawn mower exhaust. He placed the pan over the mound and let the mower run for 30 minutes or so. The carbon monoxide did reach, and kill, the queen and all the other fireants the carbon monoxide enveloped. His neighbors loved the idea and it spread to that entire neighborhood. They eventually became fire ant-free.
