Anyone have one or or both?
I am looking at buying an upper in either one of these, and I am just looking for some others experience or advice?

Why not consider the .458 SOCOM too? Just curious.

i don't have either but i do have a 458 socom. my reasoning is it can use the same bullets i keep here for the 45-70. the bushmaster uses 452 bullets if i recall correctly.

i think anything you shoot with any of the three won't know the difference. i think your choice is what ammo and/or components are readily available.

i know it isn't a direct answer but just something to think about.

I have a 50 beowulf.

I think all 3 are in the same barrel anyway.

As to thumpers, I don't shoot bone, and that being said I have yet to drop anything with the 50. OTOH with a 275 Barnes X for light game in it, I don't think I"ve had anything run more than about 30 yards either.

I have local deal available for either the .450 Bushmaster or the .50 Beowulf. Not the .450 SOCOM.

I think I am leaing towards the the .450 Bushmaster, I have a good supply of .452/.451 bullets, and there are more factory ammo options available if needed.

However the Beowulf does have that "nifty fifty" factor...

I just wondered if anyone knew of any pros/cons

I wouldn't think there would be enough difference between the 3 to worry about.

Personally I wish I had the 458, as I'd like to use same bullets and then get a silencer that I could tap onto a 45 acp upper, a 45 acp, a 4570 and the 458 as a multi use can.... built large enough to handle the largest....

The 50 is fine. Just not that versatile and I don't have a 500 S/W and don't have a desire to either, at least not at this point in life. Though their recoil probably isn't worse than 300s in my 329.... but I don't like bulky handguns, if bulk isn't an issue I"d take my Contenders instead...

In truth it probably doesn't matter which I pick either now that I think about it. I don't really have a specific use for the set up. Its mostly just something to mess with.

I have a decent upper here, and found these two locally for pretty cheap. Less money than I have seen .223 uppers for.

If you're planning to shoot it alot, go for the caliber that has the cheapest component bullets. If it's more of a novelty cool gun, well the bigger the better. That said having a caliber that has limited bullet selection and bullets that aren't easy to get locally can be a PITA. Dittos for brass.

I have the .50 Beowulf and am very pleased with the accuracy and knock down power. I crumpled an Antelope into a pile of Jello at 200 yards with it last fall using the factory 334 gr. hollow points. The negative is ammo/brass supply. I believe the .450 ammo would be easier to come by.

I have a 16" 450 and I shoot clover leafs all day at 100 with the hornady factory ammo and have dropped every whitetail where it stood. Remingtons coming out with 300 grain core loks that are exciting. But great choice I'm real happy with mine.
