They size straight and smooth, even though there is more resistance with thicker necked brass. A hot soapy water bath with neck brushing, hot water rinse, a shot of compressed air and a short ride in a 250 degree oven and they're ready.

I've found that when I've gotta run a ball with more than a thousandth or two interference, short cuts and "no remove wonder lubes" don't get it done for me.

BTW, how do you get the Imperial out of the necks? Besides, if I treat one neck a given way, then they all get the same treatment. I want consistent seating and bullet release.

MM, have you tried just throwing them in corn cob media to remove the lube?

Well I found out how different using different brass can be today...
Took some never-fired PMC brass loaded with what I used before shooting .721 to the range today..and Wow, went from .721 to something in the neighborhood of 2 1/2-3 inches...wasnt even worth taking a pic to show.
Looks like I'll be buying some new RP (remington ?) brass. AND SOON !!!

different brass will usually have different results. I will only load the same manf. brass.

Try a Lee Collet sizer. It uses a mandrel and has no expander to pull thru and distort the case. It's a neck sizer and may cause tight chambering in some guns. With the belted mags, try Innovative Technologies' body sizing collet die. It has a go/no-go gauge to determine if the case body needs sizing. The combo of these two dies can create some great shooting ammo, chambering almost as easily as full length sized rounds and a lot more concentric. Very few cases have exact wall thickness all the way around and a hard expander pull can stretch the brass, more on the thinner side. Using these two dies in concert eliminates most of that.

I like to use an appropriate tool on flash holes with new brass, especially something like 6.5-284 Lapua from which I expect great things. I never mess with primer pockets, at least not in the last 40 years. Did some of that as a beginning reloader. Seems to me like a waste of time, although for years, I've read stuff from the advocates. Just doesn't seem to make a difference. Would appreciate hearing from others on that one.
