I believe that Ross Seifred has written an article on this cartridge recently. Can someone tell me where and what issue.

Gregor Woods summarized the allure of this cartridge in Magnum a few years ago. Said to have been the bees knees for farmers, meat hunters, etc... at a time.
.330 cal. jacketed lead core 250gr round nose at 2350 fps.
Works through its inability to push the bullets of the days beyond their tensile yield.
With todays bullets, nothing to get excited about - the modern nearest equal is the .338-06 - for with 210 Nosler Partitions or TSX make most sense.

Mike 454- that is what I was looking for. I just want to get Ross's take on the cartridge. A lot of folks used it and liked it a lot.

Cabela's had one a few years ago that made me weak in the knees. It was a Rigby Mauser '98 takedown. IIRC the tarrif was around $3000. Very sweet rifle.
I'm Mauserless at the moment, which leaves me with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I need help. I'm pretty sure I could talk my doctor into prescribing the cure (a Mauser) but the problem is getting the health insurance company to cover it.

I know that rifle ! From when I lived up there and I believe it has a good home now..
The .318 ammo I have on hand reminds me a lot of a 8x57 with a heavy for caliber bullet(220-250) and could be replacated easy enough without the hassle of the odd bore size that is used with the .318WR

From what I have heard about the 318WR, all were built
on expensive rifles. Probably no economy guns around in
this caliber.
