I have found a Remington 760 in the 257 Roberts. The rifle is in 98-99 % owed by the same person for over 40 years. It has sat un-fired for the last 20 some years.
He is willing to sell me the rifle and told me to make an offer. I want to make a fair offer and was wondering what they are worth in the 257 Roberts.
Thank you
I am Canadian.

Find out what's fair to him, and have integrity about it if he says $300 or something like that.
$600 and it would be coming home with me. great gun, cool caliber.
Camp is where you make it.

I just bought one a few months ago. Out here, in Kalifornia, the 760's aren't popular, so I got it cheap. Back then , alot of posters told me it was worth alot more than the $300 I paid for it. It is not, I suspect as nice as the one you are considering. It is a really nice rifle. Surprisingly accurate, even with the iron sights I'm using on it, and very easy to find good loads for. Fast, plenty powerful enough, and a tough, low maintanice rifle. I'd much rather have it than any of the AR-15 rifles as a casual "truck" rifle. E Their only drawback is the lack of good, longer range factory loads. No where near as easy to find good ammo for. But such ammo is available, just not common. It is a great round for the handloader. A very easy to live with round. E

I think Dave is about spot-on. I've been watching these on the internet market 'cause I like the cartridge. It's not common to see one locally. Just ask your seller what his ball park figure is for "fair" and take it from there.

Terrifically under-rated rifle! Fun to dress up or down too!

I've got those synthetic stocks on my 760 in 30'06. Work well and lighten the rifle. E

The synthetics feel like they'd go through a Missouri tornado unscathed. I had a tough time finding the buttstock without the comb.
