I would love it if...you added a Jewell to it..grin

One can do one heck of a lot with a 8 lb rig and to a long long range!

My long range rig is a plain factory Pre-64 M70 264 Win Mag. It shoots 140 gr VLD's with Retumbo 3200 fps. I topped it off with some Talley Lightweights and a Minox ZA5 3-15. I love this rig and don't think I will ever change a thing with the rifle.

Don't know if this qualifies as a long range rig because I've only shot it to 600 yards but:

R700 LA .270 in a KS stock and a 6X42 Leupold.

All of 7 pounds and can shoot like this up close (102 yards):

at least it can till the barrel gets hot!

This one goes 8 1/2 lbs. unloaded. Brand-new, so I haven't shot it past 100 yards yet, but the groups look promising.

6.5-06 Ackley
24" PacNor #2
M70 Classic/McMillan
Talleys and a VX-3 with an M-1.

Nice rigs guys, thanks for posting.

Scenar: Is that the S&B 10x42 on your GAP 308?

Nice, how's the balance with the Edge stock and Talley rings? Are you running Badger's DBM in any of your lighter rigs?

I am on this GAP .260...pretty much a knock off of the .308 except Badger M5 bottom and a Templar action with a one piece bolt. It goes a bit heavier with the M5 instead of the Badger M4 hinged floorplate(alloy) on the .308. Plus there is a bit more steel in the tube being it's a smaller diameter bore.(both are #3 Rocks, 24") Balance is very close to the same...right in front of the front guard screw on both rigs. If I had to do the .308 over again, I would go with the M5 as well...

Thanks for the pic, that's the McMillan "compact" Edge pattern? I've got a stock in that pattern on one of my Model 70's and really like it.

Model 70 Coyote in .300 WSM, a tad under 10 pounds. Accurate.

Right on....I agree, it's a nice, trim design with a good feel. Super light and strong. If I recall, I weighed it before I sent the parts to GAP and the stock was only 20 ounces or so...

Thanks Scenar, I was wondering whether the M5 would fit in a Compact pattern stock. That's likely what I'll be ordering when I get around to putting this rifle together.

GuyM: Nice Winchester, the Coyote laminate stocks were pretty nice, similar to the older Winchester Marksman stocks although a tad bulkier in spots.
