My Dodge Ram 2500 has 200k and seems as strong as ever. When I bought it new in 2004, I went by a cousins place to show him my new truck and to see his new 3500. He had keep his old truck; a 1992 Dodge when he bought the new one. The old truck had 850K on it at that time, and he used it to haul a big gooseneck trailer about 3 or 4 days a week. He just recently retired it but I haven't heard how many miles it stacked up before the retirement.

1980 Toyota 4x4 pickup truck. 4 cylinder 90hp rice burner. 296,000 miles on it when the box fell off after hiting a pothole on I94. Replaced the clutch master and slave at 180,000 miles that was the only major repair to it.

GreatWaputi;
Thanks for the interesting thread and of course thanks to all who've responded to help make it so. It makes for an educational read to be sure.

We don't really rack up the miles here in BC like we used to on the prairies. I recall my brother had a few of the old 6.2 GM diesel pickups that passed 600,000 kilometers.

My daily commuter vehicle is a '90 Jetta TDI that we've had for 16 years. It is just about up to 410,000km, which is only about 254,000 miles if my online converter is correct?

We've replaced the shocks, struts and springs twice in that time, the front brakes twice and the rears once. One quirk of that little engine is that a timing belt failure will be catastrophic, so every 150,000km it gets changed along with the water pump, cam and crank seals.

We've needed to do some body work on it only because I've killed one very big beaver with it, a mulie doe and my wife got a whitetail buck with it. Hey, it fits in with the hunting family right?

I was trying to manage the mileage converter and think that I get just over 50mpg US gallons when running summer fuel with the thing. Can't really beat that and it still purrs like a kitten when you fire it up, so it will be the car our eldest will be learning to drive at the end of this month.

Thanks again for the stories folks, it's good to read some successful ones once in awhile.

All the best to my American Campfire friends this Fourth of July.

Regards,
Dwayne

02 gmc z71 4xr4, 5.3-rode hard, put up wet hunting truck, tons of off road use, 250,000 and runs great now. it gets 18.6 on hwy at 80-85 with enough camp to last a week in colorado mts. One tranny repair and one w.pump, 1 alternator, nwe hoses, fuel pump (800), one front wheel repair after hitting a brush covered oil field discard going cross-country chasing down a coyote. I use castrol syntec every 6000-9000 and a purolator gold filter. Original bilstein shocks need replacement. It's possible my wife had the shocks changed years ago when i was off hunting or fishing but i don't think so.

my old 93 suburban had a rear end go out ($900 repair) at 200,000 miles...
at about 240,000 i had to replace an injector ($300 IIRC)...
at 342,000 miles, in december of 2009 the transmission started slipping... and i sold it to a guy who parts them out...

it was a mistake... shoulda repaired it and kept on going....

I sold my 1979 CJ7 304/Auto/QuadraTrac = 8mpg that I had to work on everyday to get a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L 4wd 5 speed = 23mpg.

My Tacoma just turned 264,000 miles, I have even changed the oil a couple of times.

1990 Toyota Camry 281,000 miles so far. I used the car today,
it looks bad but will not stop running.

My current and 9th 4x4 over 40+ years for hunting is a 2004 Dakota 4x4 I purchased new and now has 225K miles on it and going strong.

Two previous 4x4's were a 91 Cherokee limited and a 86 Grand Wagoneer both ran past 250K miles before I traded them off.

Ted,

Has your Dakota ever required any major work? If I were to start a list of the biggest POS vehicles I've ever owned, it would be topped by a 2000 Dodge Durango. Thing was a complete lemon and I swore I'd never own another Dodge/Chrysler product again after that.

Had a '93 S10 Blazer I bought with about 90k on it, had 138k on it when I sold it. Biggest problem with it was a rebuilt tranny at about 115k. My current vehicle is a 2000 S10 4x4 PU. Bought it with 32k on it in '03 and just recently hit 70k - probably my last vehicle, barring a bad crash . . .

Volvo four axle tractor, 530,000 and then some. 520 horses, 13 speeds, still pulling hard. Burns less that a gallon between "B" services, that 30,000 miles.

The one and only new car I've ever purchased was a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo. I drove it for seven years and was in an accident where it was totaled with right around 120k on it (rear ended). I bought it back from the insurance company and drove it for another 2 years before selling it to my brother-in-law. He drove it for another couple years and passed it along to his brother and it's still on the road with well over 200k and still on the original clutch and I think it's had two sets of brakes.

My dad has an '89 Izusu extended cab 4x4 pick-up that just turned over 275k. He's had to replace the clutch a couple times and the electric window motors don't last worth chitt, but the motor and transmission purrs right along. He just turned 70 and says it's the best vehicle he's ever owned.

Honda accords. Have had a few go past 200,000 miles. My current one (1992 model) has 281,000 miles on it and everything still works great. It has the original motor and tranny too. Keep them maintained and they will last a very long time.

They are a pos, bad on gas and just saw one on the road yesterday with its hood up in the air broke down. Was about a 2000 model. Pretty [bleep] sad.

I drove a 90 toyota pickup (22re, 5 speed) to 190k+, no problems.

Dad bought a Honda Accord new in '98. He still drives it at 330K+. A couple timing belts, plugs/wires, struts is all.

BIL drives an '02 F350 (7.3, auto) at 294k+...ball joints, alternator is all.

I have an '01 F250 with 7.3/auto with 132k. I plan on giving it to my 4 month old in 16 years for his high school pickup.
