I know that the 2 main issues are that the bell will hit the rail if too low and even if a smaller mm belled scope is used that the 1.6" eyepiece of the leupold scopes can be hit if mounted too low due to the steyrs high degree of bolt lift/ rotation. WHo has mouted a smallish obj conventional scope on a steyr scout? what rings/ height did you use? what scope?
thanks

I have 1.5-6PH's in std QR rings on my other 2 Scouts. I've also used Leupy 1.75-6's earlier. I love the Steyr Scouts but don't care for the forward mounted scopes. Std scopes work just fine, just make sure your ring height is enough to make the front bell clear.......................DJ

and the bolt handle. that high degree bolt throw can cause some issues as well. thats why I am curious about scope ring height you used.

I used the Talley rings for the Steyr Scout to mount my scopes, and I have had several scopes on the rifle. IIRC 42 mm was the largest objective...jim

thanks Jim. By the way. The 376 is still pounding them flat down here in SC. Its my go to "property line" gun. I used some leupold PRWs MEDIUM height and mounted a 1.5-5 leupy. the handle clears the eyepiece by a decent margin. the LOW warne do not allow that with a conv. scope.
