My A bolt has a 1:10 twist so I'm guessing I'm gonna be limited to 130gr and less. Has anyone had any luck with anything heavier in a 1:10?

No, but my 6.5 CM seems to like the 140 gr Hot Cors. My only issue, I’ve only seen the one box I bought back in June/July. I can find .277 and .308 calibers, but no more .264/6.5 or even .284 bullets.

Nothing new here, loaded up batches of hunting ammo for the old .260 using the Nosler 120 gr. Ballistic Tip and the 125 gr. Partition. Went with the Partitions for hunting (I just trust them!)

The Mike Bryant .260 Remington.

The Nosler 120 gr. Ballistic Tip @100 yards.

And the Nosler 125 gr. Partition.

Doe shot at 80 yards (she never got up but manage to crawl to a nearby fence).

Lapua 136gr Scenars, Rem brass, Wolf LR Primer. The loads below both shoot very well with varget a little slower.

Anyone have an accurate load for the 129 grain SST? Id like to use it as a coyote/deer load out of my Savage 260.

As much as I wanted to use the 129 grain Hornady IL I couldn't get it to group any better than 1 1/2" out of my 260. The 123 gr. SST shoots around 3/4" but I've read it's not recommended for deer out of a 260. Works great on coyotes. The Nosler and Sierra 120s are not to be found but I did order 200 of the 129 SST to try.

Any opinions/ loads on the 129 SST would be appreciated.

I will never shoot another SST out of anything. They failed me and although people say that they are improved, I see no reason to find out. That being said, in my Criterion barrel, the 129 Interlock over Re 17, or IMR4350 shoots exceptionally well at 2950-ish fps. It is my main rifle for summer depredation work on white tail does. I have killed them past 400 yards.

Unusual for a Savage to not shoot better than that. Have you tried varying the seating-out to max allowable by magazine, of course.?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I’ve seated the 129 gr. Interlock jammed into the lands and they do shoot better but started seeing pressure signs. If I reduced the load to account for higher pressure, velocity suffered. Seating deeper didn’t improve accuracy . I wasted way too many bullets, primers and powder to mess with them anymore and sold what I had left.
Since my original post I did acquire some 120 grain Nosler and Sierra bullets that I’m going to work with before the 129 SST.

Good thing I reread that, I see it's IMR 4350, which I am low on.

I finally found some 120 grain Sierra Pro Hunters to try in my Savage 260 and finally got around to loading some today. Started out with the 44 grains of Ramshot Hunter which is the starting load from the Nosler website. I used CCI 200 primers and a length of 2.260” base to ogive, a .020” jump. Velocity averaged 2800 fps for 6 six shots.

I’m not messing with it anymore.

Yes .
I have the same rifle and the 140 Gamekings shot cloverleafs at 100 yards and performed to perfection,

I had this same question after listening to everyone tell me it wouldn't stabilize 140's - but I actually got a response from JB on this and he pulled up a stat showing that twist and bullet were acceptable -good to go.

Of course I couldn't believe my own lying eyes and went off to try 120's. They work perfectly fine but not with the 100% pass through and consistent bang-flops of the 140 GK.

Let me find my load data for you and know that I stick with mostly lighter loads. You have to be careful they fit in the mag in this rifle but my best load that worked was

140 Sierra Gameking with 44.5grain H4831sc loaded to COAL 2.788. No feeding problems. Powder charge is more or less middle of hi - lo according to Lee manual.

I love my A-bolt by the way,

right which is exactly why I haven't gone to Gamechanger or some others.

Best site for comparing that.
