I will have to try the 100BT load you gave, sounds like a good coyote/critter load. T.S.

I run mostly H4350 in my 260's. 45g with a 130 AB is hot but shoots great. 43.5 with 140's. I just tried 46g with 123 Amax's and they clocked over 3000 but aren't grouping the best. I need to play around with the 123 some more but since my gun likes the 140 Amax I should probably just stick with it. I've also had decent luck with H414 and Hunter in the 260.

I went to the range yesterday to shoot a little and a guy had a chronograph. I asked him if he would shoot a round through to see what it was doing. This was only a 1 rd shot but it was 3040 fps. It is a 22 1/2" Rock bbl using 46.5 gr H4350 and 120gr NBT.

Did this load show any pressure signs. I am running 44gr H4350 and the 123 A-Max and haven't seen any yet, but this is the max listed by Hodgdon for a 125gr bullet. Just wondering if there is still wiggle room for a little more powder. I have not true maximum load because Hornady just recommends using the load data for the 129gr bullets. T.S.

As I understand it, WXR is Rel-22 in a different can.

Not according to this.

Burn rates (faster to slower):
152. H4831 (Hodgdon)
153. MRP (Norma)
154. Reloder 22 (Alliant)
155. WW785 (Winchester)
156. H450 (Hodgdon)
157. Mag Pro (Accurate)
158. N165 (Vihtavuori)
159. WXR (Winchester)
160. 7828 (IMR)

Well, once again proved this to be true!

My rifle's 1-9" twist seems to prefer 120-ish bullets. H4350 gives good speed and average accuracy (3/4" - 1.25"). Decided to experiment with H4831sc and the 120 bullets. Everything shrunk immediately.

Shot these two in a row:

Going to try H4831sc with 130 and 140 grainers as well.

6.5s seem to really like slower powders. Might try Ramshot magnum as well, haven't tried it in the .260 but my swedes have shown a lot of promise with it. It's really dense and might fit better then 4831 in the .260

Nice that both bullets go into the same POI as well...

Will definitely try 130's and 140's with the 4831...

Aside, mis-print on the 120 NBT group... charge is 49.5 gr's not 49.0 gr's.

My go to load for the 260 Remington is 43 gr. H-414. The groups below were shot off the bench at Pearland Shooters club, 100 yds. Sako Varmint, 260 Rem, 130 gr. Accubond, 43 gr. H414, different OAL's, 3 x 9 variable power scope at 9X. Groups were fired in order from shortest oal to longest oal. Barrel was fouled with three shots after cleaning and before the 5 groups pictured were fired. Rifle was allowed to cool for fifteen minutes or so between each group.

I'm using the 2.900 oal loading. for my go to hunting load.

PS: Don't tell those critters I only used three shot groups for load development! (ha)

Glad that worked out well for you Brad. I'm bettin' that 4831 will do well for you with the 130s and 140s too. My 2nd .260 should be done shortly. First thing I'm going to try is the 130 and 140 VLDs in front of 4831...

Nice group for those 125 NP's. 2,950 is ideal.

760 will do that.

H4350 already got it to 2,950 but accuracy wasn't there and I have a real distaste for 760/414. Another 50 fps really doesn't matter to me regardless.

There always seems to be something about a case full of H4831 that makes bullets just want to shoot. As Sammer Olson says, "magic powder." laugh

Thanks again for the bullets SU!
