Has anyone here used the Minox BL 13X56 BR or BL 15X56 BR ? The intended use will be off a tripod for observing game, much of it in poor light.
Thanks for any info.

My buddy just got some last week. Here is the thread I started. Chicom glass Too bad they aren't up to the quality of their scopes.

How the 15X58? Any opinions on that one?

So far so good on the 15x58 which I got from SU35.
No issues my eyes can see.
Gonna put them through the ringer in October on a 2 week hunt.
We will see....

I have used the 15x58 Minox, for a couple of seasons , primarily on prairie deer hunts. For extended glassing, mounted on a tripod, they are fantastic. Way less eye fatigue compared to a spotting scope, and really good in low light situations. I prefer them to my spotting scope now, for the majority of my hunting. There is NO question that I spot more game now.

How the 15X58? Any opinions on that one? I think Minox's 15x58 (now discontinued) was an optically better bino than their current 15x56. The x58 was bigger and heavier than the current x56 model, but the x58's optics themselves were superior to the x56. The $550 15x56 isn't bad glass. Their view just doesn't "pop out" at you like the higher-end stuff does. To my eyes, its sweet spot seems to have a somewhat small diameter, too. However, unless you can still find the previous 15x58 for $550, the next step up from the 15x56 is the Vortex Kaibab, but that's gonna cost you an additional $650. From there, it's the Big 3 from Europe, w/ price tags in the $2K+ range.

Armen,
I have my eye on a good used Minox 15X58. Here's hoping.
I asked the Nikon rep to make a 15X60 S E Premier but I have not heard back form him yet.

I've been running the 13x56 for a couple years now, the have been to CO, NM and the Texas Trans Pecos on some hard hunts.
I've been happy with them, nice sharp optics, seem well built. The 13 is just low enough power you can run them on top of a monopod without problems so you don't always have to break out the tripod except for long sits.

Wow, a lot of ,mixed emotions. I really like the 15x56's I just got a few weeks ago from Doug. Either my eyes can't tell the difference no more like they were able to before or I got a good pair. I really like em. Then again I really like the 13's too.

Good to know Enrique, I'm thinking really hard about getting a pair of 15x56's and just want to hear what people think of them. I'd like to know what problems dennisinaz's friend had with them.

Dennis, did you post a more detailed explanation on Coueswhitetail.com, or was this someone else?: Recent Minox thread on Coueswhitetail.com

I have had the 58's for 3-4 years and really like them. Have spotted a truckload of game with them. Can't say about the 56's though.

I am no business man... But the 15x58's got nothing but great reviews.... Why did Minox switch to their apparently well sub-par 13x56 when the 15x58's were very well received?
