Working up a load for a .270 Winchester with 130 grain Partitions. Wondering what would be the best powder to try for this bullet?

I know 4831 is a great powder, just not sure what to try between the 2 powders listed here... H-4831 or H-4831SC I am sure either will work

Just getting some opinions from those who may have tried both with a 130 already.

Going to be using CCI BR2 Primers and Norma Brass with a 130 grain Partition. Actually, a 130 Grain Sierra Pro Hunter for load development, then switching to Partitions when it is time to "fine tune".

It is probably safe to say more big game has been taken with H4831 than any other powder. Bruce Hodgdon was the first supplier to introduce this popular burning rate in 1950. Since that time it has become a favorite for cartridges like the 270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, 280 Remington and 300 Winchester Magnum. As an Extreme Extruded propellant it shares the fine quality of insensitivity to hot/cold temperatures, as well as superb uniformity from lot to lot.
H4831SC - Ballistically, this Extreme Extruded powder is the exact copy of H4831. Physically, it has a shorter grain size, therefore, the designation SC or short cut. The shorter, more compact kernels allow the powder to flow through the powder measures more smoothly, helping to alleviate the constant cutting of granules. With the smoother flow characteristics comes more uniform charge weights, while the individual grains orient more compactly, creating better loading density. Available in 1 lb. & 8 lb. containers

Same powder cut shorter but some have noted velocity is better with one or the other....I don't know which though.

I've had better velocity and accuracy with RL22. In my M700's that powder and the Pro Hunter will shoot lights out. Ramshot's Hunter has worked as well for me and another good one in both the M700's and M70. Magpro gave me some excellent velocities and accuracy with the 130 Partition in my M70. H4831 get's a lot of props with the 270 and rightly so, I just never had the performance with it I have from the other powders. YMMV.

I'm using 60 gr H4831SC with 130 gr accubonds or ballistic tips. Decent velocity, (2970 fps from 22", 3020 fps from 24") very accurate. The 4350's are pretty good too. I find 55 gr of H4350 is pretty accurate too, and about 50 fps faster than 60 gr of H4831SC.

If buying new go with the SC version. Don't stop using the non SC of same you have on hand to give the SC version a try.

Still have a half a lb of 4831 from yea...rs ago. Been using sc for a long time, never looked back, meters much better. RL22 may give better velocity but 4831 not so temp sensitive and it does get cold in CO. MagPro also works better with more vel than RL22 but also temp sensitive. Been wanting to try Magnum.

I have been using 4831sc since it was first introduced. Velocities are typically very close (+ or -) to those I got with 4831 and, as others have said, it meters a lot better. I think that I may have a partial can of 4831 in the reloading bench, but I haven't used it in years.
