Had a good day with the boys today, both did very well at the water test.
Jesse (2 YO) is now CH Zodiaks Desperado From Eagle Ridge RDX (retrieving dog excellent)
Nitro (1 YO) is now Zodiaks Crystal Afterburner RD (retrieving dog)
Nitro and Jesse were the only 2 to pass the RD level, very proud of my boys!!! Nitro came close to passing the RDX -I ran both in both levels -but just didn;t go out enough on the blind, blowing wind moved his duck over 75 yds out, he got within 5 ft (wind to back so no scent) but the duck used was already used & soggy, wasnt floating well & he just never saw/smelled it. He did well thru all else though, not bad for a baby!
RDX you must heel your dog to a designated area by ponds edge. 3 ducks are launched/shot at varying points thru a decoy spread, when the judges then tell you, you send your dog. You may handle, but 4 refusals and you are out.
You then later heel your dog back to pond & are told where a duck is, no launch/shot here, this is a cold blind. You send the dog & may handle some, but have to watch any refusals, it is a fairly difficult test nearing Master Level at Retriever tests. (minus the land marks)
For RD, 2 ducks are launched/shot thru a decoy spread, in both levels, dog must retrieve kindly to hand.

Thank you!! CC, the jury is still out on keeping Snap, although I like her very much & she shows good potential.
Now we are off to pursue the field trials & try for Jess' last points to complete his Dual Championship, fingers crossed!!

Jess picked up another leg on his Senior Hunter title today, he is 3 for 3, needs 2 more to finish. Had a nice run! We have 2 field trials coming up before we hit another hunt test so hoping to finish his SH early October. smile
