There may be a few places as there are several ranches out here that breed them. All high fence and not really hunting them....You might post on texashuntingfourm.com. Should provide you with some good info.

Given the lack of water and hay in east Texas right now, there is probably quite a few folks who would let you come shoot one of their beef cows for a nominal fee. [Linked Image]

Remember to remove the red collar and bell before you photograph it.

Canned hunts are like going to a whorehouse. It's not bad while your doing it but you feel so dirty after you leave.

good way to fill the freezer, a cow elk can be had for $600 and a cow buffalo for probably $850-900 but don't confuse these with hunting.

we usually get a cow buffalo every few years-doesn't cost much more than having a good steer butchered and my family prefers it to beef.

Try MMK outfitters. they hunt a lot in west texas but do some near waco as well.

Came home from Florida, Friday. We passed no less then 20 tractor trailers loaded with 42 round bales each headed for Texas. My farm friends tell me they are going for $125 each IF they can get 'em at all.

Saw the same thing last week comming back from Louisiana. I stopped counting around thirty or so. All the Louisiana guys were bragging about the great cattle deals they were getting in Texas.

An axis hunt would probably be cheaper.

I got in on a deal with one of my customers to get some hay out of Louisiana, but it is 4x5 rolls and is costing $55/roll.

A free range cow nilgai is south Texas also has great meat, would be an actual hunt, and would not be much more expensive, if any.

2nd on the nilgai, good eats. Just make sure you hit them hard, they run forever if poorly hit. Nice to have a big gun here.

+3 On a Nilgai Hunt. However be cautious of our Western Diamondbacks. Theres about 11-24 deaths a year from venomous snakes in the US and most of those occur on our costal marshes due to the size of our snakes and their (the snakes) ability to climb up onto the Marsh Grass producing a strike zone above the waist.
