There are several different mounting systems that incorporated the side screw holes that were original to the side of the action for putting on a rear peep sight. The mounts were made to utilize those holes and then the front could mount in the holes on the front of the action or the rear dovetail in the barrel. The top rifle is a 22 Hornet with a Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2 power with the front scope mounted in the rear dovetail. Nothing like some nice Pre-war carbines. The top is a 22 Hornet with a vintage Lyman 2 1/2 power scope. No holes in the bridge. The second is a 30-06 with a peep sight, no holes in the bridge and a 270 with a vintage B&L Balvar scope on it and no holes in the rear bridge. Newest toy from New Haven, albeit slightly modified. M70 push feed short action .308 palma. Pre 64 fwt 270, currently has a vx111 3.5x10 on it in talley lw. (scope has never given me a hint of trouble, touch wood!) First loads out of it were sub 1" groups (130 hornady interlocks).It is an early 1957 barrelled action in a later fwt stock. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/fQOEQuE.jpg)

I'll have to get my setup reworked so I can take a full pic without a ladder, but this is my SC FWT (Made in USA). 308 Win, Leupold 1x4 with detachable mounts (shown with Talley's, but I have since swapped them out for Alaska Arms mounts). Nice FN 308 as well. Looking forward to seeing the Whelen as well. A 35 Whelen on a P64 is on my to-do list. This will be my second 35 WAI - the first is on a Rem 721, but it isn't a very handy rifle, as the barrel is heavy and long. Looking forward to using this one.
