Anyone here have experience with the BARNES Factory Vortex ammo ?
Particularily interested in the 243 Winchester 80 Grain TTSX.
Accuracy,etc.
I do reload but still extremely interested in this factory ammo for when either dont have the time or just plain dont want to reload and still get the performance of the Barnes TTSX !

I watched a friend of mine shoot back-to-back sub .800 3 shot groups with his Rem 700 last weekend.....and they were with the 243 80gr TTSX.

I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

Craig,
I have been using the Vor-Tx loads in my 243 with complete success. Previously I had been using 100 grain factory loads but the 80 grain TTSX really performs, even on the biggest fallow and red deer in my hunting area.

Just an FYI,

The Barnes VOR-TX ammo qualifies for free shipping at Cabela's (no minimum order or anything). Also, Barnes is offering a $5 per box rebate, up to $10.

I bought a box to try today.
Will update as soon as I get a chance to try it out in my Remington 7600 243 Winchester.

Well shot a little today about half an hour before dark.
Shot with the Federal blue box 80 grainers and they shot two 3 shot groups of just a tad less than 1 inch.
Shot two 3 shot groups with reloads of 38.5 grains of Varget and the 80 grain TTSX and they shot into just a tad less than an inch and just a tad over 1 inch.
Using the Barnes Vortex Factory loads with 80 grain TTSX shot two 3 shot groups and they went into an inch and the other just a tad more than an inch.
All 3 loads within 1 1/2 inch vertically and with 3/4 windage of each other.Only barrel cooling time was the time it takes to walk a 100 yards and back .
Shot out of a Remington 7600 with a Leupold 4x Matte scope with duplex at 100 yards . I (as usual) didn,t have the best of rest as I was shooting out of my truck window lightly resting over a folded gun case and holding the rifle snug to my shoulder.
Based on this admittedly limited shooting I would have to say the Barnes Vortex factory 243 ammo with the 80 grain TTSX is some fine shooting ammo (out of my rifle at least ).
When I have more time and a better rest I will see if it will do any better and let yall know.BUT even if it doesn,t get any better I think it will do.

Well sort of as I am either sitting next to a tree or up a tree.
BUT I have killed a few deer on our farm while sitting in my truck( mostly because it was raining )!Think of it as a portable blind !
I find that is about as steady as I can get without resting an a shooting bench with bags. Which for me presents a different POI than just lightly resting against either a tree or a shooting rail on a tree stand .
I rest my arm and not the rifle and find that it gives me a real close POI in the field .

The Vor-tx 80 gr ttsx from my 700 shoot amazingly well. Unfortunately I havent got to kill anything yet... but it groups very very well. I believe it would group the whole box under an inch...LoL

I think my Sako M75, .270 likes the 130gr VOR-TX TSX BT pretty good. First 3 down the tube.

I was interested, but for over $50 per box at the Bass Pro - 'bout the only place in Atlanta that had it, I wasn't as interested. It wasn't until I got on the internet that I realized the corlokt would no longer shoot accurately or kill effectivley.

Seriously, hear good stuff about barnes bullets and tha ammo too, but it is so expensive.

You should be able to find it cheaper than that on the net !
I paid 29.99 for a box at sportsmans warehouse and barnes has a rebate going on for $5.00 a box(up to 2 boxes)

I bought a box from cabelas when they had the free shipping,300 win mag 180gr TTSX, tried it in my NULA model 28, after firing a fouling shot from a cold clean barrel the next five shots measured .750 even with the fouler the group was 1.1 inches not bad for factory ammo, the velocity averaged 2930fps a little slower than advertised..

Shot some last week in the .223.

They shot a little over a inch at a hundred. This is a little bit more open than most in this gun but still great. And better than the federal loaded tsx did.
