I am looking to buy a new set of snow camo for hunting coyotes in up-state N.Y. I really wanted realtree hardwoods snow, but it is no longer available. What other options do I have? Any in-put would very helpful. Thanks Tom

I really like my King's TX Extreme bibs and the TX Bomber jacket. I might go with a heavier jacket/parka in NY. I just layer under it here. The bibs are quiet, warm and pretty waterproof yet breathable. Good stuff.

I use covers so I can use regular cold weather gear underneath. I find that it allows me to mix and match depending on snow load and weather. All of it is cheap cotton stuff.

Look around.

RT Hardwoods Snow can still be found. It's an AWESOME pattern.

The box stores sell white Tyvek front-zip coveralls for $8-10 that are wind and waterproof; work great, wear all the warm clothes you already own underneath. You can sit all day without a wet rear end, and a pair or two will last a couple of years.

If not in love with that option, I would opt for a white snowmobile suit...good luck on finding one of those.

All ya' need after that is a white stocking cap/balaclava and you are good to go.

I have been looking all over and nobody makes real-tree hardwoods snow, they make a real-tree all-purpose snow which I don't really care for. I am gonna go with natural gear snow,at all the snow camo I have looked at, this seems to be the best pattern for hunting in up-state New York.

Ditto on all but the cotton. Here in British Columbia temps can go from super cold to mild on one hunt, and I sweat if I have on heavy cold weather clothes and have to walk more than a few yards to a stand. I use the lightest, thinnnest outer layer possible and layer as needed for warmth under that. My current snow camo is cheap Gamehide jacket and pants, a couple of sizes too big to go over warm clothes easily. I avoid cotton because it soaks up water and doesn't dry. Pic of Gamehide camo below, thin, light, synthetic.

If looking, I'd check used clothing stores for a big size lab coat...

Will add that I call critters from sage to literal rain forest. I keep several camo options in my large calling daypack, all of them thin, light, synthetics. Sometime it works to mix types of camo to match a spot. I.e snow camo pants and a dry ground camo top to sit on a snow slope with my back against a bare log. Exact match doesn't concern me much, just break up the human form and don't stand out from the place you sit or stand.

I have an Under Armour Digital Snow Camo Windstopper Fleece. I love it just never wear it hunting. It is my everyday light jacket.

This is what I use. A pair of these cheap coveralls, a can of spray paint in the foliage color of your choice, and some imagination will get you all the camo you'd ever need.

2 ponchos for $15. If you don't like the poncho, there is a great amount of material to sew your own stuff. I have made gaiters, improved the poncho etc...

Just don't sit on the poncho or you will have the snow build up on it.

I got one of those German snow poncho's in John Day at a military surplus store for 14.00. Used it last Dec on a muzzle loader whitetail hunt, worked great!
