Dave, I just have them hinged on the top of the window and open inward. I usally just put them up and latch them open, except for the one in which the wind is blowing.

Are those stands freestanding?

Yes they are. We have had 60 mph winds come through and trees have gone down but the stands are that stable. If one wanted it would be easy enough to put some eye bolts in the legs and cable it down with some anchors.

That's a good way to go. I have a spot with only young trees, and the burlap provides good cover. I'll be trying out a new Slumberjack chair like this

I have two sets of burlap: one with stakes, and one that's zip tied to some fencing - free standing for use on frozen ground.

We build those in WI in the Nat. forest we hunt. They don't like stands so much there. I'm not a fan of them either. The blinds are fun, especially when the deer are close.

Is that one of those "government" programs? I miss working in a fab facility about now...

We just finished this one. We built it for my dad, but I'm sure I'll get some use out of it with my 7 and 4 year old in tow.

smoker,

Where are you going to mount the dish? Going with a sprinkler system on the septic or just the old field line system?

Nice

No septic tank--probably just the old straight line method.

The "shooting house" is 6 x 6. It's a little larger than I would have wanted, but it will work great--once the carpet is installed!

I took the picture standing in a logging road adjacent to the stand. It's elevated well above the actual shooting area due to being placed about halfway up a hill. Below is a picture from the front window. Visibility will be much better once the leaves are off the trees.

The fireplace must be on the other side of that shooting house.

Nice set up. I don't have any pics to share. I guess I could have put up a picture of my climber or my hot seat.

Guess I will have to wait until I have some land to build one of those fancy houses.

It's the first one we've built. Dad is 67 and I'm 40. My first trip to the stand was in 1979 and haven't missed a season yet. My kids are coming of age and we wanted something comfortable. Somewhere they could nap if needed and move when they want to move. My oldest daughter wants to be out there and my four year old son wants to go to. We've been talking about it for years, but we finally made the move.
