I have a Bobwhite, purchased the first year Huglu's were being imported to the U.S., before CZ became the importer. I can shoot it pretty well, and have used it quite it a bit on Huns and ruffed grouse. Nice little gun!

It's also one of the few guns I've sold and then bought back. For some reason I let it go a few years after buying it to a guy in Alaska, and regretted it. Two years ago he put up for sale on the Campfire Classifieds and I bought it back pretty darn quickly!

We need a new 4.10 inch 410 then it will be the square load that is so dearly prized. It could hold a 1 and 3/4 oz. shot load and the guns could be light and trim. LOL

It has just enough weight forward, due to the 28" choke-tube equipped barrels, even though it weighs 5 pounds 2 ounces, even lighter than advertised!

Wish you'd stayed out of this, as you've now got me sweated up to see if there's an exception to by previous experience w/ light 28s.

Thanks alot!

The CZ Bobwhite .410 isn't leaving any time soon. It is my dedicated ruffed grouse shotgun this fall. I will put it away when chasing chukars however. Mine was $575 used (looked brand new) back in about 2006 and has turned into one of my favorite guns.

A lot of friends shoot it well too. They are amazed that they can break clay pigeons at skeet ranges reliably with "no" recoil.

I am not pushing the .410, but don't assume it is worthless. Just get one that fits you and don't push the yardage with it.

By way of empirical evidence, one of the big gun writers (sorry I can't recall which, perhaps Brister) pointed out that when one looks at skeet scores at the highest levels of competition there is a very significant fall off of scores between the 28 and the 410. That drastic increment does not exist between the 28 and the larger bores.

JB, I am glad I am not the only one to fall to a 28 temptress. I suppose after thirty years with her it may be considered a marriage. ;-{>8

Was looking at 28 gauge over unders that are affordable the Mossberg Silver Reserve and CZ Redhead look interesting, any comments on these or maybe some other options? I still may get a 20 though, one of the stores I frequent had some 7/8th oz loads that would be good fo what we have in mind.

I have a CZ Ringkneck and it's a nice little gun for the money. Very well fit and finished and no problems after thousands of rounds. I would highly reccomend a CZ.

Well, more power to you 67 gauge users. I still find it a mystery, among all the possibilities below the 28 gauge, why the marble stopped on the 67 gauge, and stayed.
