If your worried about losing your Ammo, then take a 300 H&H, 7mm Rem. Mag, or 30-06. These well kill any Kudu or Zebra and your PH will more than likely have the Ammo. Mine did.

Can only speak to terminal performance on deer and a couple elk, but .325 was veddy veddy good to me (with 200-gn NAB's) in that regard.
The CENTER will hold.

Mike,
Grab the 325 WSM and go! I actually took a cape buffalo with a frontal brain shot with it. With all due respects sir, that shot would have been fatal with just about any canter fire rifle.

Took my .325 to RSA with JJHACK (a known .30-06/.375 guy for sure) and killed the following: Kudu, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Impala, Warthog, and Gemsbok. I took seven shots (a follow-up on the Kudu turned out to be unnecessary--we thought his head was up, but he was propped up from his fall...)
The .325 worked perfectly with the TSX loads. My longest shot was approx. 180 yards, no animals ran more than 25 steps. My Kudu, Blue, Impala, Wartie, and Gemsbox were DRT. My waterbuck (shot with my dad's 9.3x62 for sentimental reasons) and zebra ran about 20 yds. Easy shooting, no venomous recoil, and lots of range, not that I needed it. Fun, fun time. I say take it!!!
Memories afield are important--the pursuit of game blended with the beauty of nature--and are best enjoyed with sportsmen of like mind.

Thanks for all of the replied everyone! I'm glad to hear firsthand that the .325 works well and that ammo availability isn't a common problem.
One other question, is do you guys handload your hunting rounds? I handload everythign I shoot at home, but I've read some stuff about hot loads in Africa swelling due to the heat/humidity and not extracting well.

Don't hotrod your handloads and it is not a problem. I haven't used a facotry big game load in more than 2 decades. Roll my own with good success.

No flies on the .325. I would worry about bullet availability for handloading etc., but that has nothing to do with the question you asked. If it were me, I'd go .338 in the Model 70, but I like the old stuff.
Even better, how cool would one of those new 70s be in .300 H&H?

I just got mine & love it! Shoots very well with 286gn Hornady Interloks. For a magnum in Namibia I would take a 300 wby with 94-96gns Rel25 and 150gn Barnes TTSXs for about 3600fps - depending if its a 24 (Vanguard) or 26" barrel. I got 2 mates who have just returned from South African open plains hunt using just that combo in two Mk5 Ultra Lightweights and that combo REALLY works! Hard to find a flatter harder hitting combo for the open plains of Namibia!

I've used a SAKO in 308 Win with TIKKA 270 Win as back up with great success. PHs like to see you bring a rifle that you can shoot very will. Simple is best-one shot and down. Don't worry about the xbolt comments, they will work very will. Just sayin, I would not take odd ball calibers.
Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!
They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.
