I had visions of moving to Alaska and running a trapline when I was in my teen years.Probably a good thing I didn't have the money to do it,I most likely would have starved, been eaten,or just plain froze to death!!!!!Nice work and pics on the trapline!

Here's what happens when you spend 1/2 the yr wallowing around in the alders hunting and trapping. The proverbial sharp stick in the eye. I'll get glasses next time in Anchorage and force myself to wear them! After our record breaking cold and snowfall we were able to get our line back in somewhat working order. Here's a huge wolverine we got in a Manning #9 and a couple more tanned 1s that are for sale. ![[Linked Image]](http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q4/waterratpics/20120207_141940.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q4/waterratpics/DSCN1049.jpg)

I miss trapping there, wish I had Lynx where I was at. I can see it now. Nice house in the trees down south for sale. Health forces sale. (Sick and tired of not being in Alaska)

This is a little off topic,,while wolf hunting this spring my wife combines it with a seal hunt! Here's a huge seal from Lake Iliamna. ![[Linked Image]](http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q4/waterratpics/IMG_2736480x640.jpg) 300 Savage w/165 Nosler Partitions at 2500fps!

I had no idea the seals stayed in the lake all winter long. Do you catch them along lake inlet and outlets or do they maintain breather holes out in the lake ice?

Seal has a unique flavor,I like it raw off of the hind qtr,the best to me is cooked over a open fire on the beach.you cut about 1 in.squares meat and fat kabob style.
My wife also cubes it, browns it,and cooks it with rice. People who have never eaten ask for seconds.
It has slight fish taste,if you have ever eaten raw fresh shrimp it's sort of that taste. Seal is very rich, like roast coon,it can wreck havoc with you until you get use to it.
I don't care for braided seal gut like mom in law used to make nor seal liver.
