-can you interchange barrels between a Tikka T3 and Sako 75,85 and the older AV type actions?
-I have access to an 85 barrel I want to put on my T3 as a switch barrel with my current barrel

I believe the barrel threads are ironically standard 1" and 16 TPI. I also believe that to be a SAKO standard. Not much help I know.

Fortunately the Tikka action has flat sides and is easy to usncrew if you have a good barrel vise and something to grip the receiver with. I used a small precision machine vice like you would bolt to a drill press table to clamp around the receiver on the side flats. The small vice was my "wrench", worked very well did not even damage the Cerakote finish.

If in doubt just unscrew the barrel and throw some calipers around the tenon threads. Should measure around .99ish and have 16 threads in the span of one inch.

The L579/AII actions are 1" x 16 tpi...the L61R/AV is an oddball 1.04ish x 16 tpi. I've rebarrel at least one example of each.

I do have an AV barrel in the garage that I could measure over wires tomorrow if someone really wants to know. We can determine the nominal major diameter from the dimension over wires.

I have seen reference to the newer 75/85's and Tikka T3's as being a metric thread. I can't confirm this as I haven't had a barrel out of any of them.
