I'm interested in good deal on Sako 85. Prefer SS Syn. Best price I've found is NIB, $1250...

If $ is an issue, get a Tikka, they shoot just as well.

I think the Finnlights are $1500, All I can find otherwise is the Bavarian and I don'e care for the Euro look. If thats 1250 for a Finnlight, that sound very good.

They are great rifles.

That is a reasonable price but you can do better. You will have to be patient and willing to buy second hand. The 7mm08's are not too popular so get ready to jump on something close.I call close,338Fed 308 or 243.Sako closed out the 338 Fed and you can find them at a bargin sometimes. You can always rebarrel it,it will still a Sako85.
If yor dead set on an 85 in 7mm08,IMHO buy it.

Sorry,I drank the Sako-Aid.My opinion may be biased.

Another alternative is the x-bolt. I have 2 in 7mm-08 and both shoot factory ammo extremely well(except Hornady Superformance). If you handload, then you can make a 7/08 really shine. Just my .02......Have a nice day.

Right now, the X Bolt is my second choice. The $1250 is for a SS Syn. I've found a Sako 75 in North Dakota, condition like new, for $1000.

Browning and Sako don't belong in the same sentence together. I'd take the Sako every time.

Better not shoot one against the other you may be dissapointed, I have owned more than a few of both these rifles and I would rate the Browning X-Bolt the overall more accurate rifle plus the scope bases actually screw into the receiver with 4 screws on each base unlike the clamp on Sako system which never has set right with me on such a pricey rifle..................Hb

Id put my X Bolt 7mm-08 up against any Sako 7mm-08 for accuracy. It shoots everything extremely well.

I've had both the Xbolt(wood/blue) and Sako 85(SS/laminate) in 7mm-08. Both are very accurate with a variety of ammo. The Xbolt has gone down the road, but it was a nice, LW, accurate rifle....wouldn't mind having another some day.

I think the 7mm-08 is as close to a perfect Whitetail cartridge as you can get, but at the present I don't even own one. I do plan on correcting that in the near future though and a Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker will be very high on My list of candidates for the job...................Hb

I know what the advocates of the X Bolt are saying. The best price I've seen for the Browning is the Syn model at NIB $700. A couple of months ago there were several sold on the websites for under $600. I'm patient...

And would be your worst choice.

No, that honor goes to the 280 Remington.
