140 GR. NOS PART Hodgdon Suprform .284" 3.230" 54.0 2905 55,400 PSI 57.0 2983 58,600 PSI

I would venture to say you could push that by an extra 3 grains and be at approx 62,000 psi and pusing 3,200 mv.

I am using their load data.
There is no way I'm running too hot.

I blew a primer years ago and a really stiff bolt once load data for that was actually under a book max charge. Granted I'd substituted a different bullet of the same weight (a lesson in itself) but had worked up to it and shot groups with no problems at all. Whether some variable caused the extra pressure I don't know but things happen and hate to see you damage your firearm or yourself pushing too hard.

Possibly. Normally I'll cross ref. it with QL to give me an idea if I'm around max or slightly above, esp in the 280, and chrony as I work it up. I hate to push things too much myself, maybe I'm just overly cautious, esp with me not being able to at least get a ball park in QL what it may be doing.

I wonder how this powder would work in the 284 winchester, love to try it but don't want to take any risks unless I have some data to go on.

SU35,

How clean is it burning? Seems I remember reading something about it being a bit dirty.

I contacted hodgeon tech support, the fellow I talked to stated that they worked with other cartridges including the 270 wsm but if there was less than a 75 fps increase in speed Hornady would not let them publish the data.

That's news to me and not in my shooting.

I've tried this powder in the 6.5-284. NO GO.

It's pretty cartridge specific.
