Those Texan scopes are nice: the working man's version of the Lyman Alaskan. Looks like a day well spent.

Don't know anything about 1917s, but it don't take a genius to see that one has a ton of condition.

Nice grab.

Way cool Brian. Good for you. Next time I'm around back there I'll call to see if you're available to let me have a look see. And to think that my sister-in-law teaches in Peshtigo and didn't tell me about it. grin

Looks like a late one by SN. Says 1922-1926.
Thanks for the compliments, guys. I really wasn't sure what I was buying. I had never seen a Savage pistol at a show before, and the finish is different from the 1907 I've handled. I almost walked away from it.
There was also an 1950 EG in .300 there wearing a compass in the stock and a Lyman 29 1/2. The Lyman was missing the flip down aperture and the windage had some slop in the dovetailed pieces. I passed @ $450.
Anyone have some 7/8" Weaver rings?

Congratulations ont the find. I went to a show yesterday, and picked up a 1917 in 380, but not in as good a condition as yours. I also bought a couple of antique pocket knives. I also passed on a very nice pre war R in 300, with a Lyman peep mounted. The guy thought it was a G deluxe.

Brian, I notice that yours has the left grip with the Indian in the logo pointing to the rear of the gun, on others the Indian is pointing to the front; a friend of mine just bought a nice one with that version grip at the OGCA show. I told him I would try to find out the story on the grips, I am not sure which is supposed to be the more scarce version (if either is). Hopefully someone that knows can offer some information.

The duller finish is correct.
