Just a tip i thought id share for making regular lead round nose .22 ammo better. What i do is i take an old file and file about 5 strokes to level the rn into a meplat. Seems to make them hit harder, for me atleast. I did some accuracy testing and they shot just as well at 25y as the unaltered ones. I didnt do any extensive or long range testing since i dont ever shoot (grouse) much farther then about 40y. If anyone else has tried this or has any comments Id love to hear them.

I bought an SRG Tool, made of very hard metal. for my 22 mag bullets. The cartridge fits in it and you file the nose off. They say it really does a good job on game and doesn't ruin the meat, It's also made for reg. 22 cals. too. I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

You can make your own SGB jig by supergluing a stack of the appropriate size flat wahers together until just the right ammount of bullet sticks out of the end. Then you just file the nose off. The flat nosed .22's really knock the stuffing out of small game with very little meat damage. Good shooting, Weagle

350RM,
I was wondering what Winchester is the sub sonic ammo that you are referring to? I know the T22 target ammo is probably but is there another that you are talking about?

George,

The ammo I use is a hollow pointed T22. By the way, I use the T22 to practice as I really cherish the HPs and save them for hunting, and also because both ammo go to the same place...
Winchester reference (brick) is W22SUB, it has a 40gr hollow pointed pill. It really looks like a hollow point semi wad cutter.

350RM,
Thanx for the info, I will have to look around and see if I can find some of that ammo. I had never heard of it before. I have been using the Win Dynapoints that Win produces for K-Mart which works well for me.

350RM,
After I posted and thought about it I realized we are actually shooting the same load. Here in the states Win calls your load a value pack and it is the same load as far as I know that they manufacture for K-Mart (Dynapoints) that I shoot. They are a very accurate and a very good small game bullet.
