In the interest of science I loaded up a few dozen Hornady 225 gr bullets to see what happens to any unfortunate deer that happens to get in the way of one of those.

Bad news for the deer. How big was the hole?

I have only killed paper so far with the .225 gr Hornady but the Sierra FN 200 gr. made a good impression on them!

300gr Sierra Gameking works great leaving the muzzle just a bit above 2500fps.

http://www.chuckhawks.com/reduced_big_bore_loads.htm shows some reduced recoil loads from Nyati, Inc. using Accurate 5744. Hunting loads use TSX - some 235- and 300-gr at 2000 fps. I guess they expect the TSX to expand OK at these speeds.

Reduced loads given for 9.3x74R and various .375 calibers H&H up.

The 2000-fps loads should shoot about as flat as factory .30-30, and could be used where a .30-30 would work.
