I have a Sako TRG-S in 7mmSTW. The problem I am having is it wont quite kick out the cases. I compared mine to my wifes Tikka that has the same system and the, I am guessing it's called either the ejector pin or the plunger, is not nearly as stiff on my Sako as hers is (keep the laughing to a mild uproar please). I took the bolt out and removed the spring pin and removed the plunger(??) and the spring behind it. The spring did look really tired. I stretched the spring some and reinstalled it and it worked better. It will eject a empty shell now but not a loaded one. I think I need a new spring.

If there is more I need to check please tell me. If not, Anyone got a spring they will sell me? My Elk hunt starts on Nov 15th and I would like to have it fixed before then. Thank you!

DemonSTW,

This is just a SWAG (Scientific Wildassed Guess) based on my experience with a Tikka, and I'm guessing that the ejector assembly is similar or the same. Tikka /Sako are both owned or distributed by Beretta. I had the opposite problem with my Tikka. I wanted to reduce the ejection force because it was denting case mouths of ejected brass. Anyhow, I found that Beretta only sells the ejector, spring, and retaining pin as a "unit". To make a long story short, I got a spring assortment from Brownells, and picked one of the correct diameter that was a bit softer than the original, and cut it to length. It worked fine. You can try to get a factory replacement spring from Beretta and hope that it fixes your problem, or you could do what I did. Assuming that it's just a matter of finding the right spring, you shouldn't have any problem getting things fixed by your deadline. BTW, assuming you're reasonably handy, you should be able to do the job yourself. With my wife's assistance, I punched out the roll pin holding the ejector and spring in the bolt, on the kitchen table. Just be sure to hold back the ejector with some kind of pusher, so that it doesn't fly across the room and get lost! Hope this helps.

Edit: I just reread your post, and it's clear that you already know how to replace the ejector spring. Just get the Brownell's assortment, find the right one, and you'll have about two dozen assorted extra springs that you'll never use, but your rifle will work properly!

DemonSTW,

I just found the packing slip with the spring assortment. It is by Wolff Company, Stock Number 16070 Miniature Coil Spring Pak. I got mine from Brownell's but I don't know what their stock number is. I do know that it was a lot cheaper than the whole factory "assembly" which, IIRC, you can also get from Brownell's, but it costs over $30 and you only get the one factory spring. Wolff Company is in PA, www.gunsprings.com Hope this helps.

Cool. Let us know how it works out. Hopefully you will find a spring in the assortment that will give you the amount of force you want. Remember, it will have to have the correct inside and outside diameter in order to fit in the hole and accept the ejector plunger. One more caution, don't lose or bugger up the roll pin that retains the ejector and spring. I believe it is a metric size that you won't find at your friendly local hardware store. Good luck!

No worries on the role pin. I work for Kar Products/Barnes Distribution. I sell that type of stuff for a living. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
