Welcome to the fire.

You could get a Cooper but I'd just re-barrel a 22-250 in an action of your choice.

Cooper and Savage sell .250s, and Ruger used to do so.

of course any gunsmith can set you up with a 250 Savage on the action of your choice...

yea if those Rem Custom shop offerings were more wallet price friendly, I have to admit of probably owning a batch of them...talk about Coool... and I am not usually a 1st String Remington Fan... I prefer a Model 70, Savage and Ruger over a Remington..

Shaw will make one up at a reasonable price cheaper than the gunsmith route, unless you already have a donor.

I am considering getting a new FN M-70 Featherweight in 22-250 and having it re-barrelled to .250 Sav. I think that would be a sweet rifle.

Check the mag length on the model 70 .22-250, it may have a block in it. I'm not sure if the new ones are different, but I went to convert a push feed 70, and had to buy a new mag box and follower. Most of the .22-250's I've measured have a shorter box then you'd need for the .250. You may be better off starting with a .243 or .308.

yeah, but a short action in 243 or 7/08 or 308 could easily be rebarreled to 250 Savage... or just replace the box in it with parts from Brownells..

E.R. Shaw is a barrelmaker out of Pennsylvania, a Google search should hook you right up.

You could watch the auction sites as I did and have a nice pair of 250 Savage rifles like these :

Top - Ruger 77RL (Ultralight) 250 Savage

[Linked Image]

Bottom - Remington 700 Classic 250 Savage mounted in a McMillan Edge
