I'd like to see Remington produce a .45-70 rifle based on the 20 gauge 870 receiver with Ballard rifling, an 18" barrel, a corn cob foreend, and an English style buttstock. It seems easy enough, what do you think? A scope rail that would allow forward or normal scope mounting would be cool too.

I agree that a 45/70 pump would be nice from Remington.

I'd rather have the tubular magazine over the type the 7600 uses.
A .410 or a 28 Gauge might be easier to convert.

Love my 682 Gold E Skeet. Trigger breaks like a well adjusted 700 trigger.

Mine would likely be a 6.5-06 built off maybe a 700 LA or Sako action, 26" Lilja/Krieger/Rock, 8 twist, McMillan GameScout Edge (just drooled over the one I saw), topped by a 3.5-10x40 with some M1s. Hey, a kid can dream right?

Such a rifle seems as senseless as most of your posts here........................dj

Doubt that the 870 action could be made sufficiently robust to take on modern .45-70 loads though. What about a 20 ga 870 Special Field with a rifled slug barrel that has a cantilevered scope base to mount a scope. Load it with some fast sabot slug ammo for that .45-70 sensation.

Swampman, forgot the lower rail for light and laser.

No interest in slug guns. This is a hunting rifle so no need for a lower rail. The 20 gauge 870 receiver forging is the same as the 7600 rifle.

I don't know about the 45-70, but if Remington brought back a m25 or m14-1/2 in .357mag and .44 mag, I think there would be a market. Especially with the new deer regs in Indiana allowing pistol cartridges.
