Handled a really nice older 110 today, at first glance I
thought it was a Remington 721B. Serial # was 5xxx, first
year production possibly?

Member here has #96xx with 11J code. His is 1958 so I would say 5xxx is also 1958. Another member has 110 with an "I"(1957) date code. This would seem to cloud the "first year" at least in terms of manufacture dates. It is my understanding that catologs and advertisement start the 110 in 1958.

I have #12XX with a stamp of 16I. Cal. 30-06. The code would make it 1957.

It is a 270 Win, all I ever find in the early 110s, except
30-06.

LB, yours is the 1957 one I mentioned.

Jericho, seems all the early ones I see are 30.06. I'll find a 270 eventually.

I believe this one is also a featherweight, very nice rifle.
Might go look at it again tomorrow. Had a recoil pad on it though.

Wasn't sure if another one had surfaced. It's my understanding that BOTH 30-06 (1st) and .270 were BOTH manufactured in the 1st year. .270 came in late 1958.

My early 110, 4 digit 110 is in 308....1958. My other early 110 is a 270 from 1958, but a lower 5 digit #.

Anybody know anything about the stocks on these?

I've had a couple and am about ready to pick up a LH 30-06 for my son. All that I have had were monte carlo combs for scope use except for my 270 which has a 4 digit serial # and has a low comb stock. Were these just options or did the earlier guns come with the low comb stocks? Just curious.

Another 1957 code to join LBK's.

I wonder if these codes were stamped when the gun came off the line or when they were made ready for shippment?

My bad!!!!! I was looking at a 99F at the same time which was 26I.... the 110 270 was actually 11J which makes it 1958 like some of the others.

Sorry about the little case of Savage dyslexia!!!

Went back and looked at the M110 again today, barrel code
is 11J. Also noticed rings on the face of the bolt around
the firing pin hole.
