WOW! All I can say! I bought new Marlin wood, front and back for my 1894C to replace plain jane smooth light colored stuff with minute scuff on toe...if the butt is as much of a pain in the balls as the forearm, the scuffed set may stay! The forearm is incredibly off...I understand some "minor" fitting, but this is ridiculous! I am actually sore from sanding! WTF! I bought brand new Marlin original stocks from Midway...dark checkered walnut...never AGAIN! Any tips????/Frustrated!

Brand new means they were probably made in New York, and that's why the problems you are having.
