Well was heading to Lowe's for weed eater stuff. Had to stop at a LGS on the way while I was out in that part of town. A 22/45 Lite followed me home. They only had one, were going to put it in the rental pool of guns. Had a neat silencer on it. Would love to have a silencer on this pistol, unit is very light pistol/silencer combo. May have to fill out the paperwork for one some day. Anyway just have to stay out of this LGS. Hope to get to shoot the 22/45 Lite this weekend.

... The .22 rimfire is one of the dirtiest rounds today and many firearms in that chambering benefit from frequent cleaning..
Best wishes.. Herasy!! Absolute truth, George.. The buildup of crud, fouling, etc., on .22s is the first thing that'll cause 'em to fail.. Strip it down, remove all crap, lube lightly and reassemble and you'll be right back in business 99% of the time.. I was trying to be a little tongue in cheek-ish. However, the design of the MkII (on purpose or not) is fantabulous. It went nearly 5 years and I don't know how many of rounds of fed bulk before I finally took it apart to clean (more outta curiosity). There was crud built up all over the place that came off in chunks with scrapping. BUT none of it built up in an area that prevented the gun from operating flawlessly for such a long time. Again I don't know if that is a design issue or perhaps I've been just [bleep] lucky .... Same for the first 10/22 I finally took the bolt out of, after nearly 10 years, important surfaces were clean, but there was a lotta crap in it ....

My wife's 22/45 gunked up to the point that it wasn't functioning last weekend when my youngest son and I got in a range session. I don't recall when I last gave it a good cleaning, but I'm sure it's had a few bricks run through it. The previous range session I seemed to get stuck on loading duty and my boys alternated emptying the mags faster than I could load them.
A quickly clean can be done with carb cleaner and shot of lube, but there's a point at which a detail strip comes into play. One of these days I'll get an ultrasonic cleaner.

The SR22 is a fun little pistol! Everyone should have one.
What could be a sadder way to end a life than to die having never hunted with great dogs, good friends and your family?

Right or wrong, the magazine disconnect and obnoxious loaded chamber indicator on the Mark III and SR22 are deal breakers for me.
I'll stick with Mark 2s.

458, will the carb cleaner eat the polymer frame?
