This is a little off topic,,while wolf hunting this spring my wife combines it with a seal hunt! Here's a huge seal from Lake Iliamna.[Linked Image]

That is a great picture! Looks mighty cold, though.

The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

That is a great picture! I had no idea the seals stayed in the lake all winter long. Do you catch them along lake inlet and outlets or do they maintain breather holes out in the lake ice?

Seal has a unique flavor,I like it raw off of the hind qtr,the best to me is cooked over a open fire on the beach.you cut about 1 in.squares meat and fat kabob style.

My wife also cubes it, browns it,and cooks it with rice. People who have never eaten ask for seconds.

It has slight fish taste,if you have ever eaten raw fresh shrimp it's sort of that taste.
Seal is very rich, like roast coon,it can wreck havoc with you until you get use to it.

I don't care for braided seal gut like mom in law used to make nor seal liver.
