Ok,just bought a new one, with the diesel,so who has one and what do you like and dislike? The first tank of fuel averaged 18.2 with mixed highway and city. This is calculated, not from the computer, although it was close.I was surprised,to say the least, and happy.I will be buying a gooseneck hitch soon, probably a spray in bed liner, and probably some running boards/steps for my short legged wife.I really should buy a truck more often, just so that the sticker shock is not so bad! So,tell me what you think. Against the well intentioned knowledge of the masses, we also have a 6.0, 2006 King Ranch, 60,000 miles, bought two weeks ago. Absolutely love it. Drove 150 miles today of all Interstate, 75mph, 22mpg per the computer. Only ran one complete tank thru, it hand calculated to 19.5mpg, computer was showing 19.6. Won't pull but a few trailers, but it sure will be nice hauling mules to Colorado rather than the 1/2 ton gas burners we're used to.

Oh yeah, recommendations, get a turnover ball. Uncle and bro in law both have B&W's. So much nicer than the channel iron the ball is mounted on in my bed, makes hauling sheetrock and concrete board difficult.

I have a 2011 F350 with the 6.7. I love it. No issues so far at all other than an exhaust sensor backing out of the down tube.

Local dealer sells a chitload of F350's. Haven't noticed many 6.7's at their shop(yet). And we are in there every other week with two 6.0's and a 6.4.....grin

Speaking of running boards... If and when I buy some more, I will make sure the braces under them (that bolt to the truck and hold the weight of the running boards)are more flat than vertical. The braces on mine are taller than they are wide and they catch alot of the water the front tires throw up. It sounds like you're driving through alot more water than you are and is very loud and annoying.
Mine are made by BIG COUNTRY, and they're 4" ovals. They also hang down too low and I've already caught them on things and pushed one of them back a couple inches.
I'd be pickier next time I bought some.

Run an 04-350 long bed crew cab diesel with a manual 6-speed. Don't haul much, but when I have to it's quite capable. Been a great truck and gets 21 to 22 on the highway. When it comes time to replace it, I want another manual, but that sounds like it may be an issue.

So of the available Ford diesels (6.0, 6.4, 6.7, 7.3), which one has shown the best reliability?

Throttle fixes everything. If it doesn't fix the problem, it’ll end the suspense.

Random stuff, not all engine related.
My dad's favorite pickup is an '03 and it has been great, just starting to get a little wore out!

Lightman I love my 2011 F-350 CC DRW 6.7L.. Getting about one mile per gallon better than my previous 6.0 PSD and, considering this engine has 30% more power/torque, I'm happy as can be.. I just hauled my 5er to/from the western edge of SD and I hardly noticed it behind me.. I ordered it with the factory installed Reese hitch and gooseneck ball. That Reese is a BRUTE; rated for 25K. I hear ya re: sticker shock.. During an oil change last Thursday, I walked around the lot checking out trucks.. One there had an MSRP of over $64,000!!! Holy gold nuggets, Batman... FWIW, they sell trucks over cars by about 3 to 1...

I'd be pickier next time I bought some. On running boards: If I ever buy a set again, they will be stainless steel. When I bought my 03 GMC I went to the self reported largest Westin dealer within 200 miles and said I wanted stainless. He talked me into the chrome ones as they matched the chrome on my truck better and stainless tends to have a yellow hue. I didn't want chrome as I'd seen too many rust out. He said if they did, bring them back and he'd replace for free. His business was blown away in the Joplin tornado and the chromed ones rusted from the inside out, to where thjey were paper thin. Exterior looked fine until they finally collapsed.

Wonder what they really sell for now days. 64,000 is lots of money for a truck. Guess that one had it all on the inside.
