Which of these 2 scopes would you suggest on the 6.8? I like and use leupolds, I have never had a mil dot reticle and am going with one on this rifle. I was told about the weaver as being a good choice for the AR.

I like Leupold too but I like Weaver better in this case. Now if you were comparing it to a MK4 I would feel differently.

I like your taste in scopes. I put an older Weaver K2.5 I had laying around on my AR because it had no sights. It works fine for CQ work. I'm a cheap-o so it will have to work for now.

I can't find the weaver in stock anywhere . Any ideas of a good place to find one?

That particular scope is a Midway exclusive. When it does come back in stock it'll probably go on sale for $299.

I run a little Nighforce 2.5-10X24, and EOTechs on my AR's, they consist of 223/5.56, 308W, and 450 Bushmaster.

Hunting, self defense/home protection, or farm maintenance they all work well in these fields.

3-9X? That scope looks like the most bang for the buck. If you have that and a 1-4X with OD mounts you about got it all covered, IMO. That extended base the Leupold came out with combined with a pair of Leupold ORW ring looks like the most cost efficient way to be able to swap optics IMO.

I looked at the Mark AR butread where it is set for a 223/5.56 cal I am building a 6.8 spc so the mil dots wouldn't work right or so I am told. The Weaver is a great scope from what I have been reading. If I don't like it I will go with the Mark AR next.

I'm confused, the Mark Ar to which you linked has a Mil-dot reticle but the technical description says the BDC is set for a specific bullet. What BDC are they talking about? And Mil-Dot is Mil-Dot, it's caliber/bullet agnostic.

Yes, since it is a mildot reticle just get something like EXBAL and chrono your load and plug he data in an that'll give you your drops for each dot with that load.

The turret cap itself could be changed out for a Kenton or a Leupy Custom shop version for whatever load you come up with.

I think the MK AR scope also uses turrets marked in yardage set for 55gr bullets.

I don't blame you on that rig. I was just stating for the masses more than your OP.

Yes, the 3-9X. It has standard MOA marks with the "calibrated" marks on top. Believe it or not, those calibrated marks fabulous out to the 5 if you have a 55gr going 3,100fps.

I use mine as an all around dog/killing schit rig. The 1-4X wouldn't get much use from me.

Assuming I get it running again, I might spring for one of those 2.5-10 Nightforces, for my light AR-10, I liked the look of the one you had.

Leupold 1-4x20mm Turkey Plex Reticle.

Bright, clear rugged large field of view.

You will, however, need to mount it swept a bit forward.
