In gun's a great example is Remington, first it was the J-Lock on the bolt shroud followed by the POS X-Mark Pro trigger, either debacle would have put a smaller company into bankruptcy.

Weatherby's biggest debacle (bastard child etc.) in their history is the 30-378.........dont fight it either re-barrel to a better chambering or buy a different rifle with better chambering.

uhh, ok..

Fotis, I maxed out @ around 100 grains of retumbo, seated at 3.8" GM215M primers.I was getting decent accuracy and right at 3000 fps. Been meaning to try some other powders/depths but shelved it to work with other rifles.

Edit to add, if you plan to seat the bullet out and single feed, make sure to decrease the charge acordingly, pressure goes up fast.

If you go do a search for hodgdon reloading data, it will bring you to a site, where you can get their reload data on almost any round out there (not wildcat). I just checked and they have 5 or 6 loads showing for the 30-378. Might add it was initially the 30-378 KT, before Roy decided to offer it as a Wby loading. KT means Keith-Thompson.

I might add that the velocities shown on the Hodgdon page appear to be a bit optimisic, as know on some of them, am not getting anywhere near their claimed velocities.

I am having great luck with VV570 and 230s in a case with about 15gr less capacity, but cannot really say how it will work in the 30-378. I am running them very close to 3200 but the 5K pressure difference between them puts the 30-338 lapua imp right with the wby.

You're getting 3200 from a 30-338 Lapua imp and it is 15 grains less capacity?

WOW

Yes with a 31 inch tube running probably 72k pressures which is not really that crazy for a case rated for 68k.

Nosler's manual has data with the 220 Partition, which probably develops similar pressure to the 230 Hybrid. Here are their maximum loads; the velocities are from a 26" barrel:

91.0 IMR7828, 2879 fps
98.5 H1000, 2923 fps
110.0 H50BMG, 2980 fps
93.0 Viht. N165, 2992 fps

They note IMR7828 as the most accurate powder in their test barrel, and 91.0 grains as the most accurate charge.
