I looked at Nikon refurbs years back. To me the 20% discount is not worth it vs a new Nikon scope with a lifetime warranty. In a Nikon camera that only has a 365 day warranty when new...a 90 day refurb is definitely worth the discount in price.

After hearing a lot of guy's say Refurb's were simply bad scopes fixed, I did some checking. Refurbs are as 338 states. They are not broken or returned because they don't function properly. Those scopes are taken out of circulation, actually cut in half! Refurb's are open stock, demo's, writer samples and show stock. While they don't come with the regular Nikon lifetime warranty, they should look brand new when you get one.

I will not ever own a nikon because of my experiences with their warranty deparmtment. Leupold makes a quality product and it does not matter who purchased it.

there is probably some exceptions but frankly I never thought the prices on the refurbs were really all that great. Thats why I have never been interested.
