Anyone else shooting the Ruger Old Army?
Attached is a bullet mold I've been using for some time. It's from Rapine (now out of business), #454160.
If I remember correctly this may have been specially listed as being for the Old Army but I can't remember for sure. It has a starting edge to make it easy to get lined up for ramming the bullet in. The cast weight is slightly over 160 grains so it's a little more then a standard ball and not as much as some of the other heavier LEE bullet molds.

I run it through a .458 lube sizer just to grease it up but it's not sizing the bullets. I'm not sure about the hollow base and if it hurts are helps in a revolver, they seem to shoot well enough. I've thought about taking out the center cone and installing a non-hollow version also. I keep the cylinder handy to try them out when casting to make sure they don't get too large to fit.

Anyone have a similar bullet?

Would be nice if we had a Percussion Revolver forum on 24hourcampfire.
