ready for the crock pot and dink o thon contest 17 yd shot from ground 44 lbs on hoof est dress weight .... 34 excalibur equinox excal firebolt excal x-act mechanical bh 376 fps @ 5 feet button buck ran about 60 yds as the fellas at work say "i can crap in a swinging bucket and hit it" it was 10am i called it seeing 2 nice fox squirrels and 6 hen turkey i climb down from tree walked 20 yds stepped in an opening when something caught my eye deer he spooked ran about 10 and stopped and looked back its like i tell my son " run fast run hard and never look back" bow hunting is a rich mans sport I hate shooting from ground could not find my bolt and BH 20 bucks down the drain but my Vietnamese buddy will be happy his daddy wanted one last year for Christmas with the guts intact the situation just never happen... I dont believe in dragging guts but at 44 i made the exception today great start to the season ill shoot mama this eve

it aint much smaller than the little guy i shot last year. It was legal, and i aint ashamed to say it was YUMMY as hell.

I'd say it hinges upon what type of management practices you are exercising on the land you hunt. And your long term goals 3-4 years out.
If it's a very small parcel and you have no cooperation with neighbors- then have at it. Same I suppose for public land. Provided you have a need for the meat or know some specifically you can bless with your kill.

The thing for me is: I try to make it something worthwhile hauling to their processor.
In short- if you're shooting someone a deer and they are going to pay a flat rate on the processing of a carcass- kill em something 100lbs or better. Be a blessing to the recipient, not a burden. A 44lb deer after after skinned and boned ain't worth assembling, cleaning and breaking down of my grinder, cutting boards, knives, etc.
At most 15-20 lbs of meat?

no mama tonight but did pass on a 1.5 yo basket 6
