Dependent upon which Ruger you're asking about of course.
Present day M77? Yes.

Remington offers their Mauser action rifles, too. I don't know if Interarms still offers their Mark X rifles.

I'm asking you [bleep]! What's the point of this thread anyway? wildhobbylobby has a gorgeous pre-64 in the classifieds. The OP can buy that or get a 700 like the rest of us. Nothing further. Travis

Travis They did. They somehow commandeered the Zastava contract from Charles Daly to begin with. Then they cheapened crap out of the finish and stocks. Then they let the only (far as I know) currently manufactured commercial 98 be denied the US market. One less competitor. But to prove capitalism works K-Var now imports the Zastava 98s, r.e. the recent thread about special order LH mausers. Of course Charles Daly has now gone the way of Interarms, the dodo bird, and Conservative Democrats.

Just looking for some ideas on what is available. Most people say get a CRF rifle for dangerous game hunting, but the PF rifles work just fine too. Only time I see it might make a difference is if you are hanging up side down in a tree.

Yes I believe Remington left us with the model 770 and dropped the 798 and 799 rifles.

Only time I see it might make a difference is if you are hanging up side down in a tree.
A PF works just as well upside down or in any other direction. The CRF advantage is in a much more rugged extraction and ejection system. That only comes into play when the rifle is abused or used in extremely harsh dirty conditions or with out of spec ammo. I prefer CRF, and there is no downside to not getting a rifle with it. But I also have several PF rifles I like quite well.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
