I'm planning a trip to Argentina, for Water Buffalo, Wild Boar, and Axis deer. Since the buff is the largest game on the ticket, I plan to take the .416, and use it for everything. I don't want to take two rifles along.
Question- I have developed some loads for the .416, reducing the MV to Rigby levels in order to use it without the brake. However- given that I will be using it on Axis deer, at longer ranges likely than the buff, I'd kinda like the flatter trajectory and lower recoil that the brake offers.
What say you all?

Just think of it as a 3006 on steroids.. Super round, great choice. Just keep the speed up around 2400 plus if you have to but personally I'd use the round's full capability.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

I have been using a 416Rigby loaded to 416 WBY levels. Works, kills stuff but does come back on ya so practicing with 300gr bullets at about 2000fps or less then working up from there is a good idea.
Save and protect your hearing, and that of thos around you by getting rid of that damnedable BRAKE though. If you cannot shoot a rifle well without a brake, go down in caliber and recoil until you can. Nothing on your list could not be killed very dead very fast with a 375 or a 9.3x62 or similar. FAR better a 9.3 something sans brake then a superboomer with one.

My friend who has hunted big game animals for 25 years, is now going to purchase a Weatherby .416 magnum rifle. He plans on going to Africa and asked me what I thought, I said it is one gun that will do 98% of all you would want to hunt with including dangerous game.
He asked me what that 2 percent would be and I told him elephants! Many people believe that the .416 caliber is not as good as the .458-Lots, 505-Gibs or bigger even. I showed him a report of a .416 mag 400 grn bullet going length wise into the tusk of a big tusker and how it was hit in the rear end.

Retumbo and a 350 TSX, pressures will be low with the extra slow powder, and vels about 2450, so recoil wont be that bad. Think there's a TXS in 300 gn. wt. also, should lessen recoil even more and will still be enough for buff.

Safariman today got to shoulder the .416-Weatherby rifle with muzzle brake! I swear that rifle felt like it weighed in a 12 pounds. It just seemed way to heavy verses my 10.5 pound .416 Remington mag. in model 70 Winchester. My .458-Lott weighs in around the same too in the same brand of rifle etc.

Aussie did you ever officially weigh that .416-Weatherby? Nope. I have never weighed any rifle. Never understood why anyone did. John

Fotis,
Do you need any brass for that .416? I have around 80 rounds, I think, both primed and unprimed, all once fired Weatherby brass.

I'd use the 350 gr. Barmes TSX at about 2600 and it will kill anything you need with good trajectory.

There used to be a great bullet I tried called the 335gn Trophy Bonded Bear Claw. That was something really special. Shame the good stuff seems to disappear.
For local use, the 300gn X is fine for anything on this continent. For dangerous game, I'd go all tge way to the 400 (410) or 450 grain bullets but that is because I am old school.
The 350gn X's really would suffice for most of everything but the recoil goes up fast once you go up from the 300 grainers......if that is a consideration.
