I hit the range to test fire my Omega using White Hot pellets as I recently switched from Triple 7 because I didn't like how dirty the Triple 7's were. They shot well but left quite a crud ring. Not a huge deal as it just meant a little extra scrubbing but a buddy of mine convinced me to try the White Hots as he said they performed well and cleaned up quite nicely. Needless to say I was quite happy with the results of the shooting and the clean up was better too. I'm shooting two White Hots behind a 250 grain Hornady SST low drag projectile. Here's my three shot group at 100 yards.



Now I just have to wait another 34 days for the whitetail muzzleloader season to open up here in SK.

You're lucky. Most guys report they still get a crud ring.

Ever try BH 209? The breech plug in your Omega is perfect for it.

My Omega loves BH209 and cleans up easily with regular solvent. MOre velocity too. I may be wrong but I thought Whitehots were just 777 pellets without the dye. If so, the crud ring would still be a problem.

That's a sweet group. I wouldn't fix what ain't broken. A group like that does wonders for your confidence!

One hole groups should make it easier to clean. I agree with the aint broke statement but for grins try out BH209, you may get the same result and easier cleanup

Nice group. Glad you had good results. I would say you are good to go. I get the same results with BH209 and the Hornady 250 SST and it's very easy to clean. I shoot 110grs of powder.

I would love to try BH209 however I live in Canada and find the price a little too high for my liking. A 10oz bottle here is $60 and the White Hots are $29.99. I have a spouse who disagrees with hunting so spending the extra $ is a tough sell at the best of times.

I don't blame you. Stick to the WH.

How many loads is that for the WH? A bottle of BH is about 60-65 100gr loads.

I shot white hots in a CVA Optima, seemed like it was harder to clean than the T7. BH209 is the easiest to clean & the most accurate in any MLer.

Whitehots have worked well in my T/C Omega. They fire just fine and the clean up is excellent.

If I could get the ignition problem with the BH 209 solved I would use it. So far it has been the most accurate powder I have ever used. First season I tried it, everything was perfect. Next season it would not fire. Instead of risking the failure to fire on a big buck I decided to stick to what worked and that was the white hots. A gunsmith told me to use a no. 59 drill bit and open up the breech plug. Have not tried that yet.

You shouldn't have any problems with an Omega using BH 209. It has probably the best breech plug from the factory made right now. Use a drill to keep the flash channel clean, and use a hot primer like a CCI 209M. You should have perfect ignition everytime.

I use the White Hots in my CVA Accura and get the same results as you. I did try BH with 90,100,110 gr loads and was not able to get the groups that I do with the White Hots. It looks like a sub 1 inch group you have there, hard to argue with that.

Maybe it's just me, but with results like that, my search would be over.

If you ultra bore coat your smoke pole you will be amazed how it doesn't foul up as much.

I can run 5-8 loads with out swabbing in mine

I can run a bunch of BH 209 loads without swabbing, but after the season it will get UBC just to make things simpler.
