If I were to snag a T.i takeoff, could it be inletted just fine for a 700 mountain rifle with a DBM? The DBM thing is kind of a bummer, but I love the rifle and would just like to further weatherproof it and ditch the walnut.

I know I probably don't have the dremel-prowess, but a smith could help me accomplish this, yeah?

I think it would be a snap with the right smith, easy.

Why not grab an ADL mag box and trigger guard, and switch it from a DBM to blind mag? That's also easy to do.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Rick, that was also my first inclination, but it was brought to my attention that the DBM 700s can't be converted. They DBMs don't have feed rails machined in the receiver, and the DBM is required... kind of a huge bummer.

Think about it:

*Approximately $125-$150 for a Ti take-off

*Probably about $100-$125 for shipping/inletting from a GOOD gunsmith

*Still only have a Ti take-off stock that may or may not fit correctly & costs about $225

You can get the exact McMillan stock you want with the exact inlet specs you need in the exact colors you want for $438 from Rick B.

You can put $50 down on the McMillan & then save the rest over the 5 months waiting for it!!

You're right. I was thinking my 25-06 was a DBM; it's now set up ADL in a Ti stock. But it was a BDL with a quik-clip conversion - different beast!

Whatever happened to the days of the poor college kid? When I was in school I couldn't hardly afford ammo, let alone build a firearms collection.

I started working on guns as a poor college student, and did much of my stockwork myself. I would find a factory synthetic takeoff, and see if I could successfully do the DBM conversion myself. I might use that stock a couple years, while saving for the Micky you really want.

Why dont you pop the bottom off your mag, and use the mag itself for your adl/bdl mag box and feed rails?

If you took your time with some files and such, you could get it to fit and look good. But, take...your....time!

Buy a 10$ dremel, a 6 pack and hog the [bleep] outta it yourself. Or as BigJ said, you could (im told) modify the mag to use as the feedrails you so desperately need...

S/a or l/a?
I have a syn. S/a factory stock.

I took an sps stock and got the bottom metal to fit first, then used a Dremel and files to make the intents for the mag.
You just gotta watch the distance from the action to the mag so it feeds right.
