Has anyone shot these out of their frontstuffer yet? I picked up a pack along with some Triple Seven Magnum pellets, just wondering if they're easy to get down the barrel and accurate as advertised. I'd been using Powerbelt 348 gr Aerotips, but they are a bitch to get down the barrel, even with a ton of bore butter.

if you are having a hard time loading a powerbelt, you damn sure dont want to try the FPB!

Just a cheap little CVA Wolf 209 I got for christmas 6 - 7 years ago, it seems everything is a PIA to load in this rifle, I've tried all the easy load sabots, Powerbelts, etc. I think my problem is the ramrod now that I think of it, it came with a [bleep] aluminum one that I bent in short order, bought a fiberglass replacement, that one bends, flexes, and sucks ass too, think I'm just gonna have to make my own out of steel. The rifle itself shoots most anything pretty good once I get it all the way down the frickin' bore.

Yeah those are pretty flimsy, Get yourself a good range rod. www.knightrifles.com type in Ultimate range rod, only $32 + S.H which will come out to a total of around $49. How does it load on a clean bore?

It loads like schit all the time, sqeaky clean, moderately dirty, it does get worse with more fouling though. Thanks for the tip.

I just did some research into propellents, and I believe that could be another source of my problem, seems Triple Seven leaves a lot of fouling behind which I've experienced every time I clean it out, so much that it makes loading really difficult after 4-5 shots. I'm going to try Blackhorn 209 out, I've been reading a lot of good things about it for a few years now, but never really paid much attention.

get some butches blackpowder bore shine
2 patches of it thru passed several times back and forth thru the bore = no777 crud ring and by the time the second patch is used and flipped over that last side is coming out solid white patch almost
then 3 dry patches =
ready to shoot
used #13 tc bore cleaner since 1992
got the butches this year
im thinking of switching to blackhorn 209 and a cci 209m primer also and seeing what it does during the off season for shyts and giggles
i shoot the 270gr saber tooth in my optima now with 100grs of 777 and a win 209
and it is very accurate
never experienced 777 before until this year and it burns dirty as heck
even more than pyrodex rs select i have used forever it seems to me
i wont switch back to #13 ever ...................

Swab between shots with T7.
The older cva's had tighter barrels of .498-.499 so thats most likely why its loading hard.

Would the compound some use to smooth their new rifle bore help open this bore up closer to .500"?

you could do about 100-150 strokes of jb bore paste in the white jar with blue lettering.

Tried to load those 300 FPB in my rifle the other day, the bullet is too big to even start in the bore. Luckily, Hornady was nice enough to swap me for some 300 gr SSTs .45/.50 sabots, which have always shot well out of this rifle. As soon as I get those, I'll start doing load development w/my new can of Blackhorn 209 and CCI 209M primers. Was trying to get away from sabots, but they still seem to work the best for this tight-bored little rifle, which isn't the end of the world either. (SO ANYONE WHO OWNS THE PREVIOUS GENERATION CVA WOLF BEWARE, THIS BULLET IS TOO BIG).

Yeah, you had no shot of getting an FPB in your barrel. I had a hard time with a gun with a .502 bore. They load easy if you can get them stared, but you'll bust your hand trying to do that on some guns.
How about the Barnes T-EZ? Great shooting bullet if it will fit.

I already have an abundance of .45/.50 T/C 300gr Shockwaves, .50 cal. Powerbelt Aerotip Platinum 348 gr, and I'll be getting those Hornady .45/.50 300 gr SSTs, plus that jug of Blackhorn 209,
I'm set for a while, maybe I'll check them out when I run out though, thanks.

The TCs are SSTs w/ yellow tips.
I've done a little w/ the FPBs and found them to work as well as power belts loading-wise.
Didn't test terminal performance. They sure can't be worse that the 245/45 cal power belts which flattened into nickel-sized pancakes of lead on a smallish buck last fall. Definitely have too choose your shots using those... And that w/ only 100 gr triple-seven!

The FPB has much better terminal performance than any Powerbelt. If you can get them to load.

 ! I had no idea, that would explain the similar accuracy though. You had perfect timing on that also, because I had just decided to only buy ML bullets from actual bullet manufacturers, but as far as those two go, I'll just buy whatever's cheaper, thanks. Funny how things get repackaged and the price changed, Biologic seeds are a good example.
