You'd have to be more specific w/ a model number and serial number range.

Werke means "plant" in English, so you're literally asking if anyone knows about rifles produced in Mauser plants, which is a significant number of models.

The short version of the Mauser 3000. Imported 1972-1974. Manufactured in Germany by Heym; may still be in production under their name, as the SR-40. Nice actions.

I have a M3000 LH in 7mm Rem Mag, one of the smoothest bolt actions in my vault. I have had mine since 1974. It came with a lightweight contoured 26" bbl. 3 shot groups sub 1/2 moa with proper handloads. I highly recomend you quietly scarf it up if you have the chance.

To me, mine is priceless. Aparantly it is to him too. I am not familiar with the M4000.
At $400 I would never sell my rifle - no matter what some book said.
If the rifle is in mint condition and the barrel is not shot out, you need to do a reality check by going out and pricing quality wood stocked rifles. These days what you get is something less than what you could get in 1974.
Just sayin'...

I agree....the stock is prime! Beautiful wood and rosewood caps on forend and pistol grip. 4000 is less common than the 3000.... Just think 8000 is aggressive.

Seriously...fine rifle, but nothing that special.
8000? Gotta be kidding...those are traded for well less than 1000 Euros over here...

$800 is not really out of line for a M4000, considering how scarce they are. I've seen several M3000's go for nearly that on the GB.
