Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

I hope all the little-guys and gals are feeling OK. My son (4) has been sick and coughing, barfing, and running a fever off-and-on for 6 days.

I think he's getting over it just in time. smile

I decided to toss together a pitch fork for fish today with some junk out in the garage.

Cold rolled 1/4" rod, I rolled the bends and cut the pieces..

[Linked Image]

I bent a strap to captivate the center section of the tines.

[Linked Image]

dry fit befor drilling and notching the strap for plug weld.

[Linked Image]

strap welded, tines cut to length.

[Linked Image]

a little while later...

[Linked Image]

shank is heavy black pipe.

[Linked Image]

handle is thin wall pipe, inserted and plug welded, a short chunk of rod plug welded at the top of the handle with a ring for a rope.

I know it's not the best of materials of the best spear, but I'll heat the spear head red and quench it to try to harden the tines a bit.

It's a starter spear.

My Christmas gift to Nathan.

Neat spear Dave!

Merry Christmas everyone!

We were on the way to my parents for Christmas Eve and my truck suddenly lost power and started dinging like crazy. The message board alternated between "stabilitrak is off" "service traction control" and "engine power reduced". I pulled over and messed with the button but that did nothing. Then I limped it the last 3 miles to my parents house and it shifted REALLY hard. Its a 2007 Silverado. (spare me the chevy jokes. Its Christmas!) grin

The check engine symbol was also on. Anybody ever hear of this?

Nice to hear on Christmas morning! Thanks Bill! LOL!! I've been doing some research on the internets and it sounds like a common problem without a common answer. frown I may need to rethink this newer chevy thing. My '96 went 250,000 miles without any problems but this '07 sure has way more than it should.

I honestly thought The engine light on a chevy just means it's still working, I've not seen one that didn't have the light on.

Hope it's nothing major, hopefully just a cold glitch.

Thanks. I started another thread on it and one guy said his '09 did it too and it was the throttle positon sensor. This was one of the many causes I found on the innerwebs last night.

It seems like the chevy engine lights come on for very little or nothing. Ford lights, they never come on. Not unless there is a huge problem.

Chevy truck is like a little girl with a sliver in her finger. "Bwaaaahhhhhh!! Ohhh it hurts!! Waaaahhhhh!!! I'm dying!! Take me to the emergency room right NOWWWW!!!"

Ford truck is like and old man that wont admit he's not feeling well. Rod hanging out of the block, engine on fire, sparks, carnage, oh the horror... "I'm ok, I'm ok, really, it's nothing, I got this..."

grin

Not sure that one is better than the other in that respect, just 2 different extremes.
