I watched it. He cetainly was a heartless ruthless bastard...definitely a workaholic of sorts I guess, and it appeared like an endorsement...until the script at the end.

What did you think?

I didn't think that they presented reality very well in the movie. Like the part when his brother dies. They made it seem like the GUNS were responsible for those people dying.

I feel like people are going to kill people whether it be with guns, spears, bows and arrows, or lazer beams in the future. I felt a very strong anti-gun vibe througout the movie.

Yeah I can see that. It seemed that he was framed as an OK guy despite the fact he was the reason his bro died...and a junkie.

Ultimately the five countries listed at the end are the main slime but I imagine if you ban guns, they will sell health care products instead, to bolster their GDP..

I have not seen it, and won't. Andrew Niccol (writer/director) is a staunch anti-gunner.

This thread explains it.

I liked it. SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Especially the end where he is set free because of the "favors" he did for the US Government. I think that that was one of the most poignant scenes in the movie.

I was lead to believe that the movie was entertaining. Two-thumbs up and all that stuff. The message behind the movie is typified by the Interpol agent trying to arrest Cage for anything. One of the messages was clearly that the AK-47 was a killing machine and responsible, not the wacko's in Aftrica or other places where it is used. The movie is propaganda for the UN's small arms ellimination effort. I didn't see them looking for merchants selling machetes?

"In Africa's worst killing spree in modern history, an estimated 500,000 Tutsis were massacred by rival Hutu tribesmen in Rwanda in 1994. But the weapons used were machetes, not firearms."

The final message was pointed toward the corrupt nature of the five Securtiy Council member nations... USA, Great Britian, France, China, and Russia. The release of Cage near the end typifies the alledged corruptness of the US. But, I found the release to reflect reality for the most part.
