I'm not sure what the twist is on my Rem 700 Classic.
Wondering if anyone has used this ammo and what they thought of it.

Used that bullet in my Classic for many years, but in my loads using 3031. It took a bunch of whitetails over about 2 decades. I consider it a good choice in the Whelen.
I would expect the Hornady offering to be pretty good stuff. That bullet is well matched to Whelen velocities.
Your twist is likely at 1:16.

It's pushing 3910 fps out of a 24" barrel.
Is that close to the velocities you were getting with your handloads?

3910 is the energy measured in ft lbs. FPS is claimed to be around 2900. My load was 55.5 gr of 3031, producing about 2550 fps out of my 22" barrel. It was very accurate and very deadly.
I have gravitated to 250 gr bullets over the last decade as I have been chasing some bigger stuff, trying to simplify things, and have become a proponent of the idea that "overkill is way under-rated."
That said, I had no complaints whatsoever about that 200gr Horn. I never lost a head of game that I shot with it, never had much trailing either.

I prefer 250 grain bullets in my Whelen.

I'm going to order a box and give it a try.
I already have Rem Corelokts in 200gr and 250gr and a few boxes of Federal 225gr TBBC.
Thought the 200gr Hornady's might be more "deer-specific".

I use 200 grain bullets in my Whelen with IMR-3031,TAC and RL-15.

Worked up to 58.0 3031 and they were screaming.
They will make a coyote look like a rabbit does when it it nit with a varmint rifle....Poof

Shot a few whitetail with the core-loc and they plant them on the ground real fast.

The M700 Classic was my first .35 Whelen, the twist rate is 1 in 16.

I was intent on using 250 grain and 225 grain bullets in the Whelen. But after trying the 200 grain Hornady it became the bullet I use more than any other in that caliber. Very tough bullet, I've killed a bunch of deer and a few hogs and never recovered one.

My load is 56.5 grains of IMR-3031 for 2670fps, consistently accurate and less recoil than the heavier bullet loads. If that Hornady ammo gets close to the claimed velocity it would be impressive, not many critters will go far when hit with one of them.

I've killed quite a few blacktails with that bullet, pushed over 2600 fps. It kills deer very nicely.

It has such a low BC that I think it actually matters in this case <grin>. Not a good choice very far out, or if it's real windy.

The 200-gn Accubond is intriguing. The 225-gn Partition is a well-behaved bullet on deer, for better or worse.

Haven't posted this in a while... exit wound from a 200-gn Hornady SP on a very small buck, 2625 fps MV, range was 20 yards.

200 Hornady kilt his hog handily, DRT. Went through both front shoulder plates & 150ish grains of it was recovered just under offside hide. Decent performance, IMO. 350 Rem. Mag. which is near identical to Whelen velocities.

My choice in the .35 Whelen is the Barnes 225 gr. TSX over a stiff load of RL15. At2710 FPS from the muzzle, it flat out hammered a cow elk.
