My dad, Lance and I headed out this morning in the hopes of filling some tags. Lance and I were out there yesterday and we got blown/froze off the hill!

At about 830-900 this morning, Lance and I were hearing rocks rolling and assumed it was piggies feeding. It took us a few mintues, but we located the pigs 262 yards away. My dad and I headed out after them, got about 125 yards and kicked some does and they went right through the pigs, sending them in all directions. I tried calling them and that only put them into their next gear!

All three of us walked another quarter mile and set up to glass. Lance immediately glassed up a herd of pigs. From there we heard a couple of boars fighting and assumed they were close... Well, a mile up the canyon we found them!

Lance and I went after the first herd he found. At about 125 yards we stopped and looked for them, but they had fed through to saddle. We decided, that although the wind was wrong, maybe we could catch a break....

When we got close, Lance let me take the lead (thanks bud!). We walked about 40 yards and we saw 2 of the pigs! They were at 59 yards and I didn't want to take that shot. I went high and he went low. After about 10 yards a pig jumped out right at my feet and we thought the gig was up! Pigs were running everywhere! A big, black pig stopped at about 40 yards. I got to 30, but could not get a open lane. I was focused intently on that pig while I was moving, and I looked down and then he decided to bail! BUT, I looked up and to the left and saw a pig standing there, 42 yards broadside. Drew the Bowtech back, put my red, 40 yard pin on her and sent it loose! I heard the Rage 3 blade with chisel tip (Awesome!!) hit hard and knew my tag was punched! I slowly worked my way up to the spot to get my arrow and saw the pig having a helll of a time walking, slowly. Ranged her at 30 at slipped another one into her. Recovered my first arrow and waited for Lance to get back.

Lance was chasing pigs for about 25 minutes. When he got back I gave him the scoop and we started tracking the pig. We could see pools of blood 10+ yards infront of us. Ended up seeing the pig 20 yards in front of us VERY sick. Walked up to her and she was still breathing so I put another in her at literally 5 feet. All in all, pig made it about 40 yards.

Thanks again Lance and dad for being there on my first archery kill! (shot a pig a few years ago and never found it)

Looks like fun Casey -

I was on hills all weekend long with my bow (first year to bowhunt) watching muley bucks try to start rutting - They aren't quite there yet, at least in 36A and C they are not. Didn't see any pigs though.

Some sort of PSE -

Looking for deer -

Did I end up getting a tag? Javelina? Yes. Three rifle tags to fill in late February in 36C and 37A.
